These digital jobs could be your next career… or money maker – Natural Self Esteem

Much has changed in recent years as our lives become more digital, creating or increasing the need for new types of workers with different skillsets.

These are some of the cutting edge job categories that you might want to consider.

TikTok Creator, Influencer

Chances are slim that your career aspirations were anything to do with TikTok until recently, but it turns out it’s one of the fastest growing social platforms in the world. This means the market is wide open for crafters with great content that have also attracted large crowds of followers.

“A good TikTok creator has 20,000 followers or more,” said Phil Greenwald, founder and CEO of HiWave, a Times Square-based tech startup.

salary expectations: The world’s top TikTok creators tend to be self-employed and make massive amounts of money — 17-year-old Charli D’Amelio, who according to some is the most successful TikTok creator, reportedly has a net worth of around $20 million. However, most TikTok employees make between $40,000 and $200,000 per year.

What you need: A proven track record of creating popular TikToks and gaining followers. Some corporate jobs also require marketing and/or other social media experience.

Career path: While it’s too early to know for sure, successful individuals would probably do well to get into marketing, advertising, and brand building.

Who is hiring: CBS, Discovery Inc., Hinge, Marvel Entertainment, WW.

vaccination specialist

Thanks to COVID-19, it’s rare that we hear anyone talk about the importance of vaccination. Not only do we need people to give us the jabs, we also need others to work in R&D, sales, planning, business-to-business sales, marketing and more.

salary expectations: In the tri-state areas, vaccinators often make $55 to $70 an hour, according to Indeed.com. Corporate employees typically make between $53,000 and $148,000.

What you need: Some roles require nursing or medical licenses. Other positions require a variety of educational backgrounds, ranging from high school to PhD.

career path: According to Thomas Vick, regional director for global talent solutions at consulting firm Robert Half, vaccinators can move up into the nursing, healthcare or pharmaceutical fields. Sellers can go into management; Still others can delve deeper into R&D, planning, sales and logistics along the supply chain.

Who is hiring: Sanofi, Cityblock, Novo Nordisk.

Machine Learning Engineer

This job is for the mathematician or computer expert skilled in writing programs and mathematical models to create artificial intelligence systems and use large data sets to create algorithms that can learn and make predictions. Think Alexa or the computer that beat Ken Jennings on Jeopardy! Vick said there will be a need for “more and more” of this type of workforce for the foreseeable future.

Salary expectations: $120.00 to $170,000.

Hiring Prospects: A degree in computer science, data science, mathematics or statistics helps, or an impressive portfolio that shows the time in self-study or as part of a certificate study. Some of these programs place graduates directly into jobs.

career path: While these jobs pay well and aren’t short of challenging assignments, the IT department is a good target for those looking to move into management.

Who is hiring: Amazon, Disney+, Etsy, Google, JPMorgan Chase.

digital stylist

High-end department stores, designers and manufacturers of luxury goods need personal shoppers who want to support customers in choosing their wardrobe – digitally. Digital stylists only take care of the products, build a relationship with the customer and provide wardrobe recommendations.

salary expectations: In many cases, these jobs are paid hourly, with an average of $26.92 per hour, according to jobs site ZipRecruiter.

Hiring Prospects: You will need a passion for fashion, retail or customer service experience, strong communication skills and strong web skills including the ability to type quickly.

Career path: You could become the personal shopper for celebrities; a brand stylist; a photo stylist; an influencer (if you use social media) or go into management.

Who is hiring: Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Ralph Lauren, Bergdorf Goodman and many fashion brands.

Experiences in the digital workplace

Flashback to when everything in the workplace revolved around ping-pong tables, designer coffee, and rooftop yoga. Things are different than post-pandemic, with many working from home. The word “hybrid” is now part of our everyday vocabulary and “workplace” is now digital, which requires new employees to build and support it.

Right now, digital workplace positions are IT jobs where responsibilities include designing and maintaining intranets, community/corporate social platforms, internal collaboration and productivity tools (think Zoom, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Slack), cybersecurity and customer service included.

salary expectations: These professionals earn up to $148,000, according to data collected for independent research firm Vanson Bourne’s 2021 Career Capital report on the digital employee experience.

Hire prospects: You need an understanding of technologies and techniques for transforming end users and digital workplaces, knowledge of unified communications, desktop techniques, security and much more.

career path: Typically, these lead to leadership roles in IT.

Who is hiring: BlackRock, Tencent, Deloitte, Goldman Sachs.
