About the opportunity

The research assistant based at the Brain and Mind Center provides administrative support to the Parkinson’s Disease Research Clinic (PDRC).

Parkinson’s Disease Research Clinic is a research-based organization that strives to develop better patient care and family support for people living with Parkinson’s and related disorders. Our research examines the causes of many of the problems faced by people with these disorders. We hope that a better understanding of these symptoms will improve quality of life. In addition, we have specific studies addressing novel treatment and diagnostic approaches.

This role is responsible for liaising with related healthcare professionals and communicating with patients, as well as general administrative duties in support of the program director.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Make appointments for patients and research participants via phone and email
  • Conduct any necessary follow-up visits with patients and participants by appointment
  • general reception and research administration duties of the PDRC, including filing, preparation and maintenance of medical records
  • Collaborate with related healthcare professionals, internal and external stakeholders to resolve patient and clinical issues
  • Assist in conducting clinical assessments such as sensory and cognitive testing where required
  • Support for data entry of participant assessments for research and clinical trials.

About you

To be successful for this role you must:

  • have extensive administrative experience acquired in a tertiary or medical background
  • are able to take initiative and work independently to achieve the goals of the clinic
  • have excellent written and verbal communication skills and are able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders through various communication channels such as telephone and email
  • are able to manage competing priorities
  • have advanced data entry skills and intermediate experience with Microsoft Office suites (especially Excel)
  • have great attention to detail and understanding of patient privacy/confidentiality.
