We opened Music in the Park last week with the ever popular Bucksnort Boogie Boys! What a great turnout we had for the music and ribbon cutting for Guapo Cigars. It was a perfect spring evening in historic downtown Smithville! Join us on Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm for the Johnny Rockit Band.
We also hosted our Spring Sip & Shop Event which was a huge success! We sold out as our guests enjoyed a variety of tastings throughout the CBD, including two bonus locations for a total of 20 participating companies. We will continue to host this event twice a year – on the second Saturday of April and the second Saturday of December.
The April 7-9 Spring Street Sweep was a smashing success with more than 80 community members, homeschoolers, Smithville students and more taking to the streets of Smithville to help clean up. This event is hosted twice a year by the Chamber’s Keep Smithville Beautiful Committee. Thank you to Event Chairs Woody Raine and Ron Martin and Committee Chairs Jill Strube and Caroline Noya for their hard work and dedication.
As I write this article, our Government Affairs Committee is preparing for the April 12 Candidates Forum. The Chamber is approaching 500 members! We are currently at 491 and we are planning a big celebration once we hit that big number. It has been an amazing journey to reach 500 as more businesses and organizations choose to join our chamber and benefit from the many networking, educational and advocacy opportunities available to members.
