AUGUSTA, Georgia — The best part of the golf season continues on Friday as April’s beauty surrounds Augusta National Golf Club with skies and cooler temperatures. Masters 2022 kicks off with another star-studded event led by a field that includes most of the world’s best golfers. On Friday, temperatures will drop into the 50s for the morning session before warming up by around 10 degrees in the afternoon.

Despite defending the green jacket, Hideki Matsuyama got off to a slow start on day one with T19s after an even par 72. The only two names to top the Caesars Sportsbook odds board to open the Masters inside the top 10 after 18 holes are Cameron Smith and Scottie Scheffler, respectively one and two shots behind Sungjae Im, the leader of the firsts round, sit. Smith is the new odds leader at 11/2, while 2020 champion Dustin Johnson goes into the second round at 6-1 on Friday.

Tiger Woods is back on the Masters field for the first time since 2020 as he competes in a professional golf event for the first time in 17 months. He got off to a strong start on Thursday with perhaps the most notable 71 in Masters history, including a rousing birdie on the 16th and a handful of par saves that kept him on the hunt as he continues to chase his sixth green jacket.

While attending the Masters is a dream for many, each year it is simply an incredible treat to see golf on the biggest stage of it all, and we here at CBSSports.com are thrilled to bring you full coverage of the Masters during this week.
